Is there any correlation between interior height and having a lift?

Some, but also depends on what options the school district ordered for their buses. My 03 Amtran RE has 12" windows, an interior height of around 79 or so inches, without a lift.

Not that I can tell. The lift door itself usually has an extrusion at the roof line because it's higher than the top line of the windows but the interior ceiling height seems standard.

Yeah, many school bus manufacturers will offer the option to raise the interior floor on lift buses so there's no fenders extending into the passenger area. As a result the interior height will be a lot lower.

And then there's lift buses with standard floor/roof heights. We have a few Bluebird FE buses at my terminal that are full length 82 passenger buses with a rear lift. Otherwise they're 100% identical to the regular fleet buses.

ive seen others that have smaller wheels in the rear so they can have flat floors and maintain the height.

From my experience, short / mini buses often have higher headroom if they have a lift. Every single one I have checked out with a lift I can stand comfortably inside, while nearly every one with no lift I have to bend over in.

How tall are you? I'm 6'1 and very lanky, I'm looking at a '94 bluebird shorty with a lift, 2acs and an onan for 5500

I'm also 6'1" ... I've been checking out just about every one that pops up in my area, but have struck out due to losing auctions and finding rust buckets. I haven't found a single shortie with a lift that was less than 6'2" and most have been 6'4". Many non lift ones have been 6' exactly.

I have no way of knowing if this will hold true beyond my limited sample size and geographic range, so someone else will have to chime in on what is 'normal'.

Also, I always have people measure the floor to ceiling height before driving to see it if it's from a craigslist ad.
