Question L Track studs for furniture?

I searched around but didn't find what i was looking for... doesn't mean i'm not just a dumbass

Anyhow - my Shuttle bus project has a TON of L Track in it, which i figure i'll save and utilize, which occurred to me that it might be a really handy way to attach cabinets and/or other furniture so it is solid mounted, but, still kinda modular.

thoughts?

anyone try this?

am i missing something obvious (except that the studs are fricken expensive?)

thanks in advance!

Jared

I think that's a great idea. I used mine temporarily but when I began my permanent build, I pulled it to insulate the floor.
I did use some up the rear wall so that I could mount my bed frame to allow adjustment at some point to accommodate storage. We keep bikes below.
I keep meaning to post up the track for sale as I don't need it.

hey me either!

i bet the interwebs know.

fortunately, i've got what i'd estimate to be around 140-160 feet of it, because it is all over my floor:

Seems like L track is pretty popular in van conversions. I've seen some interesting uses for L-track in van builds on Youtube, but it's usually pretty pricey or a little overkill, IMO. You already have it, though, so definitely use it!

"Unwin seat lockers" look pretty cool for removable/repositionable passenger seating.

I left the wall channels in and used them to connect my cabinets. I used 1" or 1.25" washers and 1/4" bolts with washers and wing nuts. I put a 1" x 3" across the back of the cabinets to reinforce the rigidity of the cabinets.

I'd question the usefulness of being able to rearrange skoolie furniture and cabinets, but maybe that's because my layout is completely constrained by a whole bunch of things. There's pretty much no way I could move anything without gutting the interior and rebuilding everything.

I left the track in mine as well, on the ceiling and walls, and and planning to use it for mounting cabinets etc... it was still pretty solid

I did remove the track that they had on the floor for benches tho.

I haven't connected anything to it yet but plan too... Just getting ready to install the floor.

not on a regular basis, mind you, but over the first few years i figure we'll form opinions on what is and is not working for layout, and being able to change it easily at least until it is finalized would be useful.
