Making a level subfloor?

Hello!

So all my holes are patched, and I’m ready to start my subfloor. With my patches and silicone, my floor is pretty uneven. Do you guys put your furring strips/wood down directly on top of the metal/patches? Or should I use something to level it out first? For reference, I am planning on a floating floor with 2x4s and foam board.

Thanks!
