Might buy this bus

New to the skoolie forum, so if I am not posting in the right please, sorry in advance. Need to know if this is a good deal, or if I should go onto the next.

1st school bus purchase, so I am as new as it gets. I will be converting this into our new home.

He is asking $4500
All the seats are removed. Some rust around the rear and sides, also under the bus. I think I can manage the rust issue.

He has installed a 5000 W inverter and deep cycle batteries, along with a Coleman Mach II 15,000 BTU rooftop A/C unit

These are the specs
2005 Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner MVP EF School Bus
with 83,957 miles on the odometer and 16,057 hours on meter
Caterpillar C7 7.2L L6 Diesel Engine
Allison automatic transmission
Single Axle
AC and Heat work
Spring suspension
Air Brakes
11R22.5 tires GVWR
36,350

Any info will help, mainly want to know if this is a good investment, or if I should look else where.

16,057 hours to 83,957 miles is a ton of idle time. I would get the engine computer scanned to see if those numbers are similar. If they are, I would likely pass on the bus as the engine is probably wore out.

What is a MX-Pro Stretcher? Google comes back with the motorized stretchers found in Ambulances, which sounds highly unusual to be thrown in with a bus.

Price wise, it doesn't sound too bad. Got some pictures to share?

I think he said this used to be used for an emergency vehicle, and hauled those around.

This looks like a school bus that was converted into an Ambulance bus, interesting. The idle time would make more sense if it was owned by the fire department, however it's still very high. You should definitely check the engine for blow-by.

Ask if they have any maintenance records for it.
If the engine is rebuilt or new, and the body rust is minor, it might be a good deal??

Too bad they didn't take time to tape off the windows before paint.
If they didn't take the time to do that, they likely didn't do any other body prep work prior to paint. That will be a headache later when the paint begins to peel off in strips, (and like it appears to already be doing in spots), in the not too distant future...
