Montg Co MD buses on PublicSurplus - why the prices?
I've been following bus prices and auctions for a couple of years now while I get my other ducks in a row before I take on yet another large project. Right now Montgomery County MD is in the middle of their annual sell-off of buses on PublicSurplus.com. This is a Good Thing, since a) they are all flat-nosed pushers which is my preferred configuration, and b) I live there.
I've gone to look them over both years, and they're what you would expect. This year the descriptions and pics are far less informative than last year; basically all are identical with the odd exception here and there ("leaks coolant", etc).
My question is: why the price disparity? I'm crying as I see some buses with ~50K miles leave for <$3500, and now I see one that's bid up over 6 grand with 175K on it. Is there some gold plating that I don't know to look for? Are others smarter or dumber than me? Enquiring minds want to know.
Thanks in advance - Dan Fox
ps - looked for an appropriate thread to hang this off of and didn't find one. Apologies in advance if this is one of those "done to death" topics.
