Moving Emergency Windows

We want to place the emergency windows in a different place. The windows themselves are the same size; however, the bus body's window frames are sized slightly different to allow for the width of the emergency window part that swings out. The body's lip that currently holds the emergency window is slightly narrower and although the window fits elsewhere, the emergency opening will not slide open through the other window frames.

The obvious fix is to cut the opening; however, the body frame bends in to create a tiny lip however slightly along the edge. I don´t think we could achieve that tiny bend after cutting. Would that be asking for leaks?

Because of our planned layout, only other options are to have the emergency windows unusable (behind kitchen counter) or change our layout (not a fun idea).

Any thoughts ideas or experiences?

The vertical side of bus body window frame measures 7/8" wide in the regular windows and 7/16" in the emergency exit windows. I can't get the photo to be vertical, sorry. The turned in edge is about an 1/8".

I'm drawing a blank. The silence here indicates I'm not the only one.

Long ago I had a bus with the emergency windows but don't remember how they were attached.

This kind of thing is where there are no rules, so most of us just over engineer whatever we put back together.

what about the standard edge of everyones bus window frames? do they typically have that edge bending in? is it imperative that it exists?

I'm sure as long as you properly seal the edge, you shouldn't have any issues...
