You can call a mechanic from their local school district and ask for help. I have found school bus mechanics to be extremely helpful. Good luck!

I love my Bluebird but if it had been in Alaska, and they were giving it away free, I would have passed.

The trip up and back would take enough time and money that even a free bus is not necessarily a good deal.

Unless..... You want to visit Alaska and the bus is just another reason to go....

Ship it? As in hire a driver or RoRo on a ship? My guess is that RoRo would cost much more than the cost of the bus itself, and finding a driver would not be cheap either.

Alaska is a looong way away from Socal

Anchorage to Los Angeles is 3400 Miles, at 10mpg that is 340 gallons of diesel, at $3 a gallon, that is ~$1000.

Add to this at a minimum the cost of lodging, a one way plane ticket, and meals, plus whatever fee someone would charge on top of expenses.

Ferry to Seattle or Vancouver and may be more or less expensive depending on particulars.
