Exclamation Need help looking for Vin number

This is my 1st post on this site.
I have a 1995 Thomas flat nose bus, 5.9L Cummings front engine bus. The previous owner painted over the data plate on the bulkhead. I tried to remove the paint with paint thinner and it removed all of the information on the data plate. I have looked all over the bus I have pressure washed the frame and I don't see any number anywhere. I can still put the title in my name but I have to have the bus inspected with Vin verification to change the title for recreational vehicle. Please help. I do not know want to do. I have already contacted Thomas bus and they said over the driver head and the passenger frame rail by the engine. Still nothing!

You mean there is nothing on the dashboard? Go outside and look through the front window near the drivers side of the dashboard. There should be a metal tag with a long string of numbers and letters.

Normally part or all of the number is stamped on top of the left frame rail next to the engine. Many times it is covered with grime. Brake cleaner helps a lot. The helped me with a VIN verification at the DMV.

Most of the frame is coverd by the body. Was you on top of the frame rail or side of the frame.

You said you had a flat front front engine bus. What do you see when you lift the engine cover? You're saying you can't see the frame from the opening?

I can see a about 2 1/2 feet of the driver side frame rail and about 1 foot passenger frame rail. I did fine some numbers by the door frame facing the front window. The first 5 number are the last 5 number of the vin on the title.

Any way you can influence who does the inspection? If any cop can do it, your brother-in-law would probably accept the title-in-hand and the last-5 / first on the frame and call it done. And it might be easier in good-old-boy land than in DC if you have the choice. You know, title it one place where it is easy then 'move' the vehicle to your home state with an RV title already in hand without the need for inspection?
