running a T444E at maximum RPM makes a lot of noise and heat and kills the MPG.. with 6 gears id probably gear up a couple notches.. knowing that for hill climbing you can downshift a gear or 2.. a 4.44 gear driven at 65 would put the engine in a range where it more likes to be.
Yea I was thinking around a 4.44 or a little lower for the top speed and mpg increase. This will make the granny gear a little more useable right?
That’s what I would try first mine has the 7.3 with the 6 speed Allison and 10.00 tires if you have enough room in the wheel well try a larger tire but the speedometer will not read true anymore you will be traveling faster than what the speedometer reads
yeah the granny would be more useable although youd probably still mainly use 2-6 but the granny is much easier on the clutch if starting out on an incline.
Granny gear is nice to have in soft sand, or other off road uses. Not really meant to be used in normal flat land driving, other then steep hill starts. It is nice to have for heavy trailers though.
