Odor from urethane

I bought some foam to make custom bedding. I have a six window bus so our bed converts to two long couches facing each other with room for a table. The foam has been in the bus for weeks but still has a strong odor. When I enter the bus in the morning after it has sat closed up overnight it is really strong. The odor should eventually dissipate but it really is bad and probably not too great health wise.

I have been concerned for those using the spray foam insulation n their buses for the same reasons. Sometimes the chemicals for whatever reason do not mix or cure properly and continue to give off a strong offensive urethane odor long after the installation. Our busses are "metal cans" though most of us have more than a few air leaks, others go to great lengths to seal their busses for cold climates. It the odor from spray foams could be anything like by bedding I don't know how they could stand it.

I didn't even notice any dog smell. No offensive odors in there at all.

im thinking after you cover up the insulation youll have a lot less of that... right now its all right in your face if ytou have the interior gutted still

My spray foam smelled like elmer's glue the first day it was sprayed. There was no discernable odor after that.

I purposely had my bus sprayed during the summer because I thought there would be fumes from solvents. There wasn't. The foam didn't even have a strong odor while it was being sprayed.

That newer foam is different. The materials are heated before being applied to enable the expansion reaction.

I'm pretty sensitive to chemicals so it's likely I'd notice and be affected by fumes.

I'm very glad to hear on the spray foam insulation. There have been some nightmares reported in the press. I considered at one time, purchasing 20ft shipping containers and converting them into college apartment housing. Spray foam, mini-split, on-demand hot water, low voltage LED lighting, train-style birth over breakfast booth seating. I'm a mechanical designer by trade... spent many hours dreaming of this thing. Seriously worried about spray foam at the time... my renters living in a tin can slowly being poisoned by leached chemical odor.

Otherwise, it's an excellent way to insulate and prevent condensation on interior walls!

...and then there's my bedding. 8-/

I hope the smell goes away soon.
