Old Fuel

What do you guys consider as old fuel. I know it weakens over time, but I've started cars on 3 year old gas. My bus sat for basically 8 months with fresh fuel, hardly what I would consider old enough to cause issues, am I wrong?

Pardon my ignorance, are you talking gas or diesel?

Diesel fuel, was using my experience with gas as a comparison. On this forum is most often referring the diesel. How old is old?

I've heard of diesel fuel growing algae in the tank in less than 6 months of storage.
Perhaps an additive could extend the storage life, but I've never owned a diesel rig...

The farmer across the street died in 2012 and last summer the farmer's daughter wanted the 300 gallon fuel tank emptied so she can remove the tank. I checked it with a bright light. I pumped a gallon or 2 in a bucket and inspected it. I drove the bus on that fuel for a month with zero issues.
