opinions on C7 Cat engine + MD3060 transmission?

Any opinions or experience on this engine/transmission combo?

MD 3060 transmission, C7 cat. turbo 300 hp engine

Personally, I'd pass on it.

None of the ones I've worked on have struck me as overly reliable or well designed engines.

You didn't mention the price, year, or the mileage on it. But that honestly doesn't matter to me, I'd look for something else.

There is a good video on "bulletproof your C7" on YouTube.

They definitely have some issues but they can be addressed to some extent.

Watch the video. The gent who made it knows far more about CAT engines than I ever will.

The transmission is one of the best that you will find in a school bus.

I like my 3126. The C7 is built from the same block but has a few problems unique to it. Watch Adept Ape's video and check out the RV forums for lots of real world commentary on C7's.

Can't wait til 5 years down the road when the C7 will be considered one of the "good" engines. Its downright decent compared to engines that suceeded it.
