Re: Overall Weight of Skoolie

All vehicles are required to come with a statement from the manufacturer which shows the maximum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) as well as the Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) per axle. On a school bus, this is typically a sticker or plaque mounted above the driver's seat.

Do not exceed those weights, and you'll be good to go.

The weight of a towed vehicle or trailer won't count against those limits unless there is tongue weight. Tongue weight will add to your axle and gross weights, so keep that in mind.

Also, different size busses have different ratings. One of mine has a GVWR of 25,520 I think, and the other is 33,280.

I hope this helps,
jim

Re: Overall Weight of Skoolie

only other thing is to check with your DMV and see if there is a restriction for your class of drivers license. anything over 11k lbs here you need a 5G (5 is normal and G is for general) for the heavy weight "normal" vehicles.
