Paint Info

I have been driving and working on my short bus project for several years. After modifying the bus for a large rear door, I wanted to paint it with something cheap since I would eventually change the color some day. I had heard about people using Rustoleum in the gallon cans with a Valspar enamel hardener additive. I mixed it up and applied it with a roller. It turned out not so smooth, but it was white and matched the rest of the bus well. That was a couple of years ago and it still looks just like it did when I rolled it on. Fo9r the last few weeks I have been starting the paintwork to change the color to gray and black. A pretty easy repaint but I have found out the Rustoleum with the hardener is about 4 times as hard to sand as the original paint. Using an air sander, it doesn't clog the sandpaper, it just wears out the paper. Anyone out there on the fence about using this paint can rest at ease. It will last very well with the hardener and it's cheap too!!!

With the hardner added, is it still thin enough to shoot out of a hvlp gun?

I sprayed a little of it, but had no trouble with a 1.4mm nozzle in my gun. Worst case, you can use a little reducer.

Did you apply it with a foam roller?
