Paint sprayer question

I'm planning to use rustoleum as the paint for my bus, and will be using a sprayer to appy it. I don't want to spend much money on a sprayer, so I'm considering this one at Harbor Freight:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/d ... mber=43760

Would that serve the purpose? My air compressor can put out 5cfm @90psi, and 8cfm @ 40psi (IIRC) so should be able to handle it.

From what I know about it, it should work ok. I'm not sure on the quality of HF spray guns I use a pro gun that my father got from his work. also I never sprayed house paint through one either. So I'm not sure if your going to need to cut it with thinner. you may also want to look into an airless sprayer. I painted my fathers barns with one and it worked great. might be able to rent one.

I've got a Wagner airless sprayer that I used to paint my house, but I don't think it would work as well as an air powered sprayer on a vehicle. It is kind of clunky and unrefined. I'm counting on the air sprayer to have a smoother, more controllable spray pattern.

Re: Paint sprayer question

I primed with the gun you linked to: a lot of overspray or paint that just atomizes away and waste. I used the HF HVLP gun and it worked great. Once you get it adjusted it's real nice to use and it was cheap.

Re: Paint sprayer question

How do you clean up afterwards? Is there a special cleaner to use? Special cloth or brush or something to make sure all the enamel is out of the brush? I used to airbrush t-shirts, but that was water based paint, and even that was a pain in the ass to clean sometimes. I can't imagine how much of a pain an enamel based paint would be...
