Parts list/ Would this be called a bumper bracket?

Hi guys,
The piece attaching my bumper to the frame is badly rusted . I was told it is called a bumper bracket but have been searching that term and haven’t found anything that looks like that. I’m new so I could be using the wrong terminology.. What would you call that rusted piece in the photos? Any idea where to get a new one?

Also are there resources out there that give u a piece by piece guide to each individual item (parts list) on a bus? I have a 1992 40’ international FE.

Jeezum, where'd the bus originate from? And if the bumper mount, or whatever the correct name is (if it were mine, I'd call it, "landfill"...), is that corroded, I'll have nightmares thinking of the rust in the floor and undercarriage.

If International isn't forthcoming with new ones, the only recourse left that comes to mind is a bus wrecking yard. Those babies were installed to stay put, so it'll take a bunch of penetrating oil and torque to bust 'em loose. Probably a few bust knuckles, too.

what the rest of that assembly looks like? is it bolted or welded to the frame.... It sure looks like some that would be time consuming to build but so big that if you had to have that shipped to you, it becomes a toss up as to whether or not. it is cheaper to buy salvage and ship or build.

I have not seen any buses around here that would be a donor.

You dont have a location posted I would offer to help build one but I dont know how far away you are.

It does look like a rebuild is in order


Like others have said a bus junk yard any be the place to get the part. Do you know if it is welded to the frame, or is it bolted in? Either way, it does not preclude you from rebuilding it in place. Taking it out may be a heavy undertaking depending on the means of attachment. Then again, one swift blow may knock the whole assembly out due to the amount of rust.

No thank god it’s not welded. It’s actually the only really bad spot in the bus. Under the stairs is no picnic but NOTHING like that. Any ideas what you would call that part? The frame under That bracket piece is fine.
