Registration in South Dakota

For those of you that have registered your buses in South Dakota. Have you been able to do it without being residents of the state? What are the process and requirements? I live in New Jersey and is nearly impossible to register my skoolie here and even I get it done, not a single insurance company offers coverage.

Old thread I know...

I am a SD resident. Registering/Titling my conversion as a motorhome was not the least bit complicated. Form 1827 ("South Dakota Division of Motor Vehicles Affidavit For Truck Tractor Converted To A Motor Home") was required to acknowledge that the necessary equipment had been installed.

Not your question but possibly useful... I have attempted to register other things (a utility trailer) in a different state (NM) and was told that I have to be a resident with drivers license from that state to register a vehicle/trailer. I can argue that this doesn't make very good sense but it is what I was told (by NM MVD). I suppose there are other possibilities (like setting up an LLC or other) but I have no experience/knowledge.

Take a look at: https://www.escapees.com/education/d.../south-dakota/

It has some good info aimed at full time RVers.
