Removing bumper braces

For clarification, I'm referring to the angle braces that come off of the frame rails to the right or left side of the bumper in the back of the bus.

These braces are really cramping my under body tank size that I'm wanting to add to my bus. Somewhere around 30% reduction in size. Except for obvious crash issues, I'm not seeing any structural problems. Anyway, I will be extending the frame rails for a short platform and will probably be removing them.

Anyone ever removed them to allow additional space down under? Any issues that I'm missing?
