Roof Coating Question...
Hi Everyone, we have a question about applying a roof coating to our Gillig.
Our bus has rounded edges and the roof rolls down over the edge to the gutters along the top of the windows.
Would you bring your roof coating down to the gutters or would you stop up top somewhere so it won't show from street level?
We are planning on using a taupe colored paint on the bottom half of the bus. The window ribs and the area right below will be charcoal colored. How do you think it will look if the rounded edge above the windows is white? I'm not excited about that, but don't know how to handle it.
Can roof coating be tinted?
What did you do when coating the top of your bus? How does it look? Are you pleased with it? Would you be willing to post a picture?

Even though its not fully painted, I'm planning on using the window gutter as the base for my roof, except over the door and driver's window, and wrapping it around front and back

What roof coating are you using and is it textured? Does it look smooth like paint or is it rough and rubbery?

I've got a five gallon bucket of Bus Kote that'll be going on top. Once pollen season and other organic drop season is over

There are several elastomeric roof coatings very similar to Buskote but much cheaper.
Some even have longer guarantees.
Anyone tried any of these? There are a few at Lowes that I'm tempted to try.

Roof paint for the inisde
Has anyone tried using the roof paint for the inside to help insulate/moisture barrier/sound barrier? This prior to putting in rigid foam.

I'm painting the inside of the shell, but sealing is done on the outside, not the inside.

We just got done, resealing about 80% of the roof seams. We used a product called solar seal (white). We cut the old caulk on the outside edges and applied the solar seal. I have used this stuff on metals roofs when I worked as a installer. We never had a leak using it. We will go over the roof with some sort of elastormer paint. After reading on this website and some others we will not be using the magic ceramic beads as tests show it is not worth it. I do not know if we want a siilcon based coating or the acrylic latex based, have to do a little more research on the best type.

I was planning to do both and using rigid foam as insulation versus roof paint, interior paint and spray foam. I had used spray foam and it appeal in this situation is complete coverage and seal. I think using the roof paint and rigid foam could be a second to spray foam as the DIY spray foam is costly even if done correctly and pro spray foam is double that.

After fighting this tar, I'm not too keen on anything that could or would trap moisture between it and the steel.
