The loophole is they just never tell their insurers they have them. In the case of a claim, they will then get to find out what the phrase "undisclosed risk" in their policies means.
Can verify that GoodSam (National General) specifically mentioned:
1. No roof deck and even roof-mounted solar was "iffy".
2. No permanent rear mounted deck.
3. No wood stove.
Violations of that can/will give them an excuse not to cover any damage.
