Roof Raise

How long does the 1inch by 1inch metal tubing need to be to do an 8 inch roof raise?
Does it go to the bottom of the pilar to the top of the roof or just long enough to fill the gap plus a few inches?

TIA

I'd say it should be as long as you can have it for strength purposes.

You will want to level your bus so that the floor is level, then drop a plumb bob from the center of your roof, to the center of your floor. Do your roof raise, but tack it in so it can be adjusted. When it is lined up the plumb bob should land on the same mark and if it doesn't then your roof is misaligned

I've seen people do it both ways, I personally did mine by butting the tops against the beam that ran full length & at the bottom I staggered the lengths .

What kind of bus??
One inch isn't gona fit very snug into any ribs of any bus I've seen. 1 1/4" is closer.

Make sure whatever you use has a fairly snug fit, you don't want any slop or play.

IIRC, 1.25" square tubing is what MuddaEarth and others with BB's have used to fill in the ribs for a roof raise.
Or you could do what I and some others do and have channel made that fits in the ribs real nice.
