Roof Raise - Rear End Question

Hi All!

Well we are coming along towards the end of roof raise prep on our rig.

We removed lower row of rivets above the windows and rivets below windows to remove entire bar right below windows so that the sheet metal will slide right in up top and re-rivet all back together after roof has been raised.

Our dilemma is the rear. Because of the support bar (see attached image) we are trying to figure out where the cut will take place. There are rivets that we aren't sure have to be removed because of the bar and where the cut might take place.

If we cut above the bar (which looks like that is where most people cut) when we raise there will be a big bar in place that would eliminate the possibility of a new door.

If we cut below not quite sure how to maintain the integrity of the structure - do people put the hat channel extensions in the rear like the sides too? Is it even possible to put in a new door that you don't have to crouch down under? Should we just cut above and go with a decent size window?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!! I have more pictures if needed I can upload some from outside and more from inside. Thanks again!!

check out our instagram for where we cut ours. We wanted to enlarge the door. so we cut right through the middle. we used some heavy angle iron and box tube to rebuild the frame. youll need a welder. it really was not that hard. we cut the back door and stretched in as well. Too keep the door square/ flat... we tacked the extension pieces in. Then hung the door off the original hinges. then we adjusted our pieces of box tube and got it aligned in the frame nice. Once we were happy we welded the extensions in. then skinned over the outside. the inside is still open. we plan on spray foaming it. then re skinning.

Ill grab a picture of how it came out tonight

I cut right across the middle of back windows. Make the door taller and more useful to go along with that new ceiling height.

Can you not remove the rivets holding the end cap on and raise it from there?
