run around

Just got my 1997 Collins short bus home.
And already the run around starts

Called BMV to see if I could drive it in Indiana without painting over yellow.
They told be to call the sheriff who told me to call BMV.

I then called ins. state farm to see about insuring it.
They had no idea how to write it up

I was hoping I could use it this spring to haul things to put in storage when I move north before I start converting

If I was a LEO, I too would say ask BMV.
If a LEO does not know the true answer they will say...........
NO
or tell you whom to ask if they know whom to ask.

Do you currently have State Farm for other vehicles?
If yes, call you agent.

If you keep running into problems with insurance give AIS a call (www.aisinsurance.com). They can easily get you a commercial for private use policy and they're generally pretty decently priced.

I have mine currently insured through State Farm as "commercial vehicle for private use". The short bus is around $600/ year.

I went with what I had seen others post, and called Progressive Commercial. I have all of my insurance through USAA and that was their referral as well. I am insured as commercial vehicle for private use at just over $300 per year paid in advance. I have been driving my yellow bus in Indiana for over a month with no issues, but all school related equipment is removed except the upper flashers.
