Running lights won't turn on

I have 2003 chevy midbus and my running/parking lights all of a sudden stopped turning on. My headlights turn on, my break lights turn on when I hit the breaks, my turn signals turn on when i signal, but the running lights just don't no matter what. I checked all the fuses under the hood and under the seat, I changed the parking lamp relay and headlight switch and still nothing. Any ideas are welcome.

Perhaps you have a separate switch for the running lights and you've accidentally switched them off? My bus (a 2003 International) has a separate switch on the side board for the running lights / identification lamps and it needs to be switched on (in addition to needed the ignition switch to be on) for them to be lit.

It only took me 9 months of bus ownership to realize this.

This is my thought, too. Look for a switch labeled "Marker" maybe? That's how I've seen them labeled...or some cryptic abbreviation of that. I've not actually ever looked into why they would be separate...but it's not uncommon.

Yeah, I don't understand why they would need a separate switch either. If the bus is running, they need to be on, so why not just have them wired to the ignition switch?

My switch is labelled "CR|IL" which in my defense is part of why I never realized what it actually did.

WTH? What does that label even stand for? I wouldn't have caught that either.

In our Fords the switch actually says Marker...but in the Sterling truck it's MARK or MRKR. Those at least make sense.

I do get it in the Sterling, because it's essentially a semi tractor truck and that switch also has a blink function (for blinking "thank you"). But you wouldn't do that in a school bus. Hmmm.

I seem to remember seeing one marked Clearance, too? Anyway...OP...look for a switch and let us know what you figure out.

IL stands for Identification Lamps (the three lights front and back top) I think, and I guess CR stands for Clea Rance.

Well, the only way they could be more obscure is if they marked it ML...for Michigan Lights. Haha! Anyway, thanks for teaching me something new - and for the chuckle this morning.

The switches on my bus

These are the switches I have, I tested them and none of them turn the running lights on, actually most of these don't even work.

in the manual for my wifes 04 chevy mid bus it says there is a seperate daytime running light control module located under the dash on the knee panel to the left of the steering wheel.

Do you have dash lights, they are usually on the same circuit. Did you rotate your light switch, may be wired incorrectly.

Its not the daytime running lights module. Does your manuel have a wiring diagram in it? If it does could you post a picture of it please.

The dash lights work, I doubt it because I put a new lights switch.
