Salvage title questions

Is a short bus has a salvage title is there a way to still title it as an rv in Illinois? The bus is from Wisconsin.

I don't know how things work in Illinois but in the states that I have lived (out West) have had the ability to title and register a vehicle with a salvage title. The "brand" on the title must remain as "salvage" or "rebuilt" depending on the state.

Here in Washington in order to title and register with a salvage title must be inspected by the State Patrol first to insure that it meets safety regulations.

If the vehicle is 15+ years old you can register it in Vermont with just a bill of sale and you can do it by mail. Be careful if you go this route. If use the Vermont route and wind up with a clear title and then sell the vehicle without disclosing the vehicles history it is fraud and can land you in a bad spot.

There is a great thread here on how to register by mail in Vermont. Give it a look.

I've bought a salvage vehicle when I was in Illinois. It was a Buick wagon, not a school bus, but still.

I was looking this up for Georgia last year and I discovered that it had to be repaired by an approved source before they would retitle.

for NC it really only comes down to why it was sent to salvage.
is it frame/main chassis damage?
is it brake or suspension damage?
why did whatever insurance company say it was junked and pay out the of its lack of value. in somebody elses eyes.
for me in a scrap yard they can only sell it at salvage weight value. and not in there eyes but in the national scrap yard register but all the little shops that think they can get more or give less are still out there.
what is wrong with the bus that requires it to have a salvaged title is what any DMV/BMV or whatever is going to look at no matter what you do
