Sheet metal for after roof raise

What type and gauge of sheet metal is good for covering the sides of the bus after raising the roof? And is it ok to use aluminum channels and L brackets to connect top and bottom window frame channels?

I prefer steel. Its cheap, easy to work with, I can weld to it, and it doesn't cause any galvanic reaction with itself. Mixing al and steel can cause a reaction.

I used 18guage, picked up end roll for couple hundred bucks. More then needed but it'll get used

How should I search for a roll like that? Everywhere over looked so far only has sheets of 4x8 or 4x10 but no rolls

HVAC companies buy galvanized steel in rolls and different gauges so you can get steel in any length from one of them. I wouldn't recommend installing your inside steel paneling in one long sheet, the manufacturers don't and the reason is oil canning, rippling and pooching.

I used prepainted aluminum trailer repair panels I used panel bonding adhesive and minimal rivets I have been working on cars trucks buses and semi trailers for over 40 years and although I have seen many strange things on many units I have never seen 1 not 1 example of "galvanic corrosion" on any thing I have ever worked on and that included many steel ribbed aluminum covered and repair patched trailers I have never seen aluminum rivets "rust"in steel supports and structure.I am not saying it can't happen but in over 40 years I've not seen it. The prepainted panels are the industry norm 4x9 panels and enough to do 14" roof raise with window delete on a 74 pass TC2000 was about $480 no prepainting no priming, steel if not prepped almost perfectly will not bond well with primer and galvanized steel is a nightmare to finish.

I wish I had heard from you sooner.

I would have taken pictures of the remains of the aluminum rivets that were used on a repair on my Bluebird. They were deteriorated to the point that I was able to punch some of them with a small screwdriver..

I have not seen very many issues on cars or trucks. But, in a saltwater environment, I have seen plenty of boats.

If I did any more aluminum rivets on my bus I will post pics.
