I used galvanized sheet metal, scewed into 1" plywood cut to fit the opening. Then I screwed the whole thing into place. Before I installed I used clear exterior silicone with butyl tape inside and it sealed great.

Sheeting in the windows

I used butyl rubber in the tube and riveted my .063 aluminum on.

My Thomas was built out of 20ga cold rolled steel. I used this same material to cover over my windows.
I secured it with rivets on it's front and read edges, screws on it's bottom edge, but used SikaFlex to glue it on everywhere else.

Be careful with silicone it is acidic and can cause corrosion. You are much better off with urethane or butyl.

I have been using butyl tape, I get from RV dealers for around $5 per roll...
