Shuttle Conversion Questions
Hey guys, general question here. I’ve been planning everything for my Skoolie build pretty well in advance, and was just thinking about possibly doing a XL F550 shuttle since they’re still diesel and aftermarket suspension components would be much easier to come across to make ride smoother. Biggest question I have is, are any of you aware of any shuttles that are composed the same as a bus being the metal skeleton and skin rather than fiberglass? If so that’s probably going to be the best route I’d like to take, unless anyone has any objection to the idea.
This all stemmed from seeing a short bus build from UJointOffroad’s Instagram page where they did a 4x4 conversion and lifted the bus; looks pretty sick! Only caveat is they only work with the E series chassis, and I’m not as concerned about the 4x4 conversion as I was a better suspension and maybe added clearance underneath with mounting water and propane to the frame. So if I can make a decent camper out of the longer 30+ passenger F550 and lift it then I think that would scratch my itch. Let me know your thoughts and input!
