Skoolie fire on Father’s Day! Everything gone!

https://gofund.me/3a21d10d

My names Dave, My wife’s Cynthia & Our beloved bus was Big Bertha. We are 2Weirdos& ABus Find us on YouTube. On Sunday June 20th as we’re at Revere beach enjoying Father’s Day we get a call that our School bus tiny home conversion that we call home was currently in flames & Within minutes, the entire bus was engulfed. We lost everything! Everything! Since we were living in it as we finished working on it since she was taking up long nights and all our funds. This build took through so many ups and downs, happy times and a lot of times we felt defeated I’ve cried in joy and frustration but this was our HOME. We didn’t have any type of insurance either since it’s hard to find a company that will insurance a school bus tiny home conversion. I guess the risk we take.

if you can donate, that would be amazing! If unable at this time, please share my story/ link so that others can decide to donate if able.

For every person that donates $10, I'll write your name somewhere on the bus (if you want). For every person that donates $20, I'll personally drive the skoolie to wherever you're located (within the contiguous United States, maybe a little bit of Canada) and give you a personal tour of what you helped build, as well as getting your name somewhere on the skoolie (again, only if you want).

So, how will you "personally drive the skoolie to wherever you're located"? Sorry, I might not be comprehending right

We lost everything the GoFundMe page is to try to get enough donations to be able to buy a new cheap bus And with the money that everyone donated once we get the bus we’re going to personally thank every single person that has donated and show them what their donation helped us get back

you are near boston, id go start seeking out local help.. the red cross, good will etc.. first off andf foremost being recover whatever you need to get back to work.. im assuming your jobs are some type of remote / IT type work? if thats the case I may have an older laptop thats still web-capable laying around.

if your job is physical hopefully your friend lets you shower there.. boston area public transit is pretty decent, you may be able to get the red cross or other organization to get you a free 30 / 60 day transit pass you can get to work..

scrap prices are through the roof right now.. the days of the $1000 bus are not here and now.. scrapyards are paying upwards of $3000 or $4000 in some cases for busses which means people arent going to sell them for any less (depends on area of country but east coast and cheap arent words to use together)..

I would seriously re-algin.. concentrate on your work, saving $$ and rent a room in a rooming house or at a friends house for a year.. hopefully we see scrap prices come down and therefore sale prices of busses also.. you should be able to get some scrap value out of your old bus as the steel wont be destroyed.. if the fire was put out before it made into the engine compartment then the mechanical DT360 is worth something as well

did your regular vehicle insurance (to drive the bus) not cover anything?

I'm sorry to read of your loss.
Hopefully you can get into something soon.

I have posted a link to the Homes on Wheels Alliance in other threads and will post one here for you and your partner to peruse.
They are in place for this type of unfortunate event, and have helped many folks out of a jam in the past.
Good luck to you, and post up on here as you get back up again...
