So I joined the club. Introducing:

My shuttle bus. Do I get to play on the same team?

2012 F550 shuttle bus. 53,000 miles. V10 6.8L.

for now the plan is to remove the chairs and install a bed. I am keeping the floor the way it is, do not want to add any weight or height.

Welcome aboard. Looks like you have plenty of room to work with. What type of smog equipment does it have?

I believe the only thing it has is an EGR.
It's not a diesel with much emissions stuff on it. I specifically did not want a diesel and ended up with oh-so-thirsty big block gas. I get about 7MPG in it, from what I hear 6.7L PSD gets about 9-10 towing. I could only afford 1st gen 6.7L and they appear to have issues with turbos going out, etc even at low miles so in reality no savings. I think the 2nd gen of 6.7L fixed it but that put me in the 2016 era and 45K price range. That's without any modifications.

Now the older 7.3L looked awfully tempting.

I like gas anyway, despite its major flaws.

Nice bus.

I wouldn't mind a newer efi gas rig. Yeah fuel mileage won't be great, but gas gensets are quieter and way cheaper then diesel units. I like having my generator use the same tank as the bus.

Is the floor hard or carpet? I know carpet isn't ideal, but it can give you a little insulation from the cold compared to a rubber over steel floor, and it wouldn't take too much height.

The floor is hard. I can put wool area carpets on it.

I have a couple diesel generators and you're absolutely right, they're not much quieter than the main engine.

I think it's great! I am waiting for the end of the month for mine to clear the auction. I don't care what the price will be... it's mine. I'm tired of waiting for the perfect one. Mine will be a shuttle bus too. 2015 G4500 6.0HDE it has 189,000 kms on it. About 116,000 miles. It has a wheelchair access on the side of it so now coming up with possible ideas for it. Mine is also aluminum instead of fiberglass sides and top with steel framework in the walls and ceiling.
