Nah, it's called a mordita. If you live in any society, you're gonna get nicked like that.

I once sold a house and the settlement sheet had a fifty dollar charge for something like 'settlement fee charge'. I stopped the closing and said someone is gonna give me a fifty dollar bill to get me to sign the damned paperwork. I was young and still going to make bank on the deal, but that fifty bucks stuck in my craw.

One of the lawyers pulled out his wallet and laid two twenties and a ten on the table, and the deal went through. I took my partner out to lunch with that money.

So yeah, by all means, kick up a fuss. Hold things up and spend hours on the phone arguing with people who have no power to change things. Maybe there's a lawyer somewhere in the mix who will pull out his wallet, and you too can have a lunch on 'the man'.

These days when faced with the little nibble, I just smile and sign the papers. I think I'm happier that way.

So you are saying I sign the Settlement amount for $10,000 . then they saying there is new modified settlement amount fee to sign , it is new amount and which is settlement fee subtracted . So sign it ? Sign it again. ? Then they go Oh ?! How about ? Well my coworkers went to party and cost us a lot . Its been subtracted from your settlement so you need to sign the new settlement amount again and again and so on ? Oh plz brother.... Lmfao no country would do that.
No judge would buy that too and no lawyer required. Small claims would do . Perhaps I should sue for $10,000 plus the small claim court fees at first then next , I should sue them for full amount of $15000 . Do you think Judge would allow that ? LoL

Maybe its time to get an attorney ...

BTW, I'm career military. I dropped USAA a long time ago when they opened up to civilians and became just another insurance company.

I think USAA is a good insurance company still is but some people who worked there especially claim department are pain in a rear. They know they made a mistake.
I signed it and they said thank you . Then they came back around says well , we paid for evaluation so you need to pay from the settlement cost and it's subtracted from the amount that you signed it. So here is new settlement amount you need to sign. I said I already signed it and you didn't even gave me check and now what ? You decreased my settlement amount and have a face to ask me signed it again ? I say see yeah later at small claim for full amount of my vehicle value. 14000. Max small claims court amount is 15000 here in CA . Instead of 9600. I was kind enough to agreed with 10,000. No attorney required . Just paper work will do.
