Suggestions for bus chairs, ebay? Craigslist? Dump?

Wondering if anyone has suggestions on what to do with 48 chairs I’m about to remove during my conversion.

I left mine outside my bus and they were eventually stolen along with the ceiling panels. It seems people occasionally manage to sell them for a little bit of money but it's rare.

I imagine some of your chairs might find a home on the porch at the feed store.

I took mine to the local metal scrapyard after removing the vinyl and cushions. Got a little money to put back into the conversion.

Put ours on FB marketplace for free. All were gone (including seat bottoms) in 2 days.

Salvage is paying $9/100lbs. Cut the back sheet metal off for skinning the bus, and scrap the frames, or repurpose some tubing in the build. Burn the covers in my firepit.

A new bus like a 2015 might have the folding seats which someone might want otherwise unless it’s a classic bus like a superior or transit pretty much no one wants bus seats. If they are 2 leg like most they don’t even make good porch chairs.

I spent weeks listing them for free on marketplace and fielding dumb quesitons from "buyers" before I finally gave up and hauled them to the scrapyard.

I posted mine for free on craigslist and a couple of scrappers came and took them away - they even said to call them back when I'm finished with the build and they'll take the rest of the scraps!

Based on other estimates here I anticipate about 1000 pounds of scrap, from a 77 passenger bus with bench seats. According to values a week ago that should net me $90-100 from the scrapyard. I figure all the work of gutting the bus will pay for a nice steak dinner out and the all-too-rare dinner cocktail!! If that's not worth it to you I would post "free scrap metal" on Facebook/craigslist and a scrapper will probably be there within hours to clear it out.

The total for my bus after the ceiling, seats and heavy parts of the A/C system was almost 4,000 lbs of scrap

Maybe I wont call those scrappers after all - if I can get anywhere near $1 / lb that is definitely some change back in the jar!

I'll have to call the scrap yard in the AM

Take off the seat backs (if wood) and the pads. If your lucky the seat bottom and back are all metal. Then you can take an exacto razor blade and slide off the seat. If you do a clean job the scrap yard will accept it.

You'll get some money back for scrap. Then spend that money dumping the foam and all the other build stuff :/

Hahaha you're right there - I've been watching my trash pile growing larger by the day. Following the "keep everything until you're finished" rule
