This 1956 bus is pretty neat

Just thought I would share...

I was looking around Craigslist for a few things, and came across a few buses for sale. There are lots of buses for sale right now; both fresh out of school and already converted- although, I think some people are dreaming when it comes to the asking price for some of them.

I came across this old 1956 bus which has awesome patina and would be a great fixer upper for someone handy (maybe). Regardless, I thought it was pretty nifty.

That has potential for getting back on the road again. Cool find.
Needless to say, transporting it to "home" and the restoration effort needed, is not for the faint of heart moneywise!!!

Hopefully someone will pick it up and do a resto on it who is a member on here, with a full before and after picture chronology...

Great find and worth the price---after you find a legal replacement windshield or man up to creating a new windshield without the "wrap around". Good bones.

cool digs but those windshields...

No known new windshields exist for the curved glass Waynes. There are five people I know of that are looking for front glass. I know of one bus that went to a scrap metal yard earlier this year and that had unbroken front glass. I have no idea what they sold for. Those front glass I think were sold within hours of being put up for sale. There are two of the curved glass models in Nebraska for sale. I own a 1954 with the flat glass.

Hi William,

Good information to know on those era buses. Such a shame the bus and its unique features will most likely be lost to time for a lack of parts, especially the unicorn windshield.

If you have a photo of your bus, I would love to see it. In all my internet searches on buses I've only seen one similar bus- I thought it was pretty neat too.

I haven't heard "it's the big one, 'Lizbeth" in such a long time.
