To Rear wing or not?

Need any and all insightful opinions about suggestions for the rear "wing" on my Bluebird All American.... Here's where I'm coming from....

*I know it helps keep the rear window clear of road grime.... I blacked my rear windows out.... so no benefit there....

*Does it have any improvement with gas mileage?

*Does it look cool?

*Should I leave it off to save 6" of clearance height?

*Should I flip it around, add anhedral winglets and go redneck wing?

I assume you mean one of these thingamajigs. My bus came with one but it's currently sitting in my shed. Right now I can just fit my bus into a local car wash with a 10'4" clearance, so I have no intention of putting it back on any time soon (I left the mounting rivnuts in place and filled them with short bolts and seam sealer before painting over them, so it will be easy to put it back up). I'd rather be able to wash my whole bus easily than have the back be marginally cleaner than the rest of it. The manufacturer claims it increases fuel mileage but I find that extremely doubtful.

I initially thought the thing was a normal spoiler and that it meant my bus was built to go really fast - lol no.

if y'all are close, i'd be interested in one.

i live on a dirt road, and a mile of dirt is enough to blacken up the backside. that back window is a magnet for dirt.

my little toad has the same issue - back side dirt.

dirt roads are not friendly.

Unless

Travel dirt/ dusty conditions. No point. It serves one purpose, to clear rear windows, lights.

Well if 15 mpg isn't gonna happen because of the wing, I'm going to have to redneck it out.... I mean Mr. Ts van had a wing right?

that was for the cool to go with the paint job.
i love the A-TEAM but we are not running high airflow CFM vehicles.
the cars in the 40 50 and 60 era were trying to simulate aircraft and some looked cool but have you ever seen anything on a school bus or RV that does not look like a big brick in the wind.
in my mind and track experience more motor side but have done all the more than relatable trac bar keeps the rear on the trac.
school bus related i guess it keeps dirt of of rear glass.
dont make since if you dont have shields underside where the dust is coming from?
yall have a good night

Gadzooks!
"Go really fast"?
Good one!
.
Pull up a chair, put your boots up on the pot-belly stove, tilt back for a spell while I explain things...
.
Way I hear tell, that spoiler is quality-engineered for 'carving the curves' during intra-district Pickup-n-Dropoff competitions.
And we all know how fiercely-contested they can get [group unanimous in murmuring head-nodding agreement].
I hear they are 'cutting-edge' among consistent trophy earners.
.
No, but seriously, I had no idea a bus needed a spoiler.
For the fuel mileage.
Debunking yet another treasured myth.

Would make A team proud. Winglets might be needed still. Definitely bumped the laugh milage up.

Careful with all that downforce back there, ya might get light in the front at high speeds.

I jest,

But the goal of that is to actually scoop wind and direct it downward to clear lights and windows. If you want fuel mileage savings, copy what they do on semi trailers. Skirts from the trailer to the ground, fairings to streamline the back, and don't forget the discs to cover the wheels. Even super singles are used, as it's also a fuel mileage increaser.

Or you could slow down a couple mile per hour and save fuel the old fashioned way.

Yes, you speak truth.... Let's just say fuel milage isn't really my goal here.... 😉😁... With the rear window gone and a perfectly good wing sitting around... Something had to be done!

BOB has been all about complicating something simple just because....
