Toy hauler ideas to do deck the right way

I'm not to the point of the deck yet I want to finish the cab exterior and most the interior first. But I cant find a good answer to a good way to do the flatbed on this. Focusing on just the deck top nothing else right now so i can plan it out. The deck is rough cut right now too just so I got the sides off for scrap.
Here is what the bus and deck look like right now.
After treating the rust (not done yet these are pictures of today) theres going to be a steel diamond plate deck that'll go ontop. Question one is should that diamond plate (.125") go straight ontop of it metal on metal sandwich? Only concern is that itll be a pool under there from water and sandwich in there and rust. Question two is should I lay a big strip of rubber between the 2 surfaces. Keep in mind I will do my best to have the sides and gaps where its put together one piece and not leakable. Or 3rd idea was 1/2" treated plywood down on the deck like it was originally (original was not treated) and then the plate on top. But then again the plywood is technically a sponge is it not? To me the rubber mat in between the 2 sounds the best route. And all diamond plate plans were secured with carriage bolts.

I'm somewhat new here if anyone's interested I could post more about the build
Thanks for any input!!!

My suggestion here would be to remove the rust, prime it, then put the diamond plate directly on top. Weld the diamond plate on around the perimeter. After this, Rhino Liner. Have it applied all over the top and down the sides and back in the toy hauler area. The primer will prevent rust until the diamond plate is down, welding it around the perimeter will seal it, and the Rhino Liner will both protect the seal and give you a good, strong rubbery surface. This will give you excellent traction up there as well. I'd suggest LineX, but that's a harder product with less traction than Rhino has.

There are also do-it-yourself truck bed liners you can use, but the professional stuff will give better results as their products are applied very hot while do-it-yourself is applied at room temperature. Eventually the do-it-yourself wears off.
