TV QUESTION

I'm getting ready to think about getting a flat panel tv for the skoolie. I've been looking at a couple NAXA AC/DC units on ebay. I was just wondering if people are using DC tv's or AC?

What do regular RV's usually use. Just curious. I like the DC idea for obvious reasons. But just looking for some input on this subject.

I have 120 volt ac flat screen, going toput one in the rear bedroom aswell. I chose ac , its just easer to get them around here anyway and cheaper. dvd players in 120 volts are cheap and easy to get as well/

I have a 15.6" 12V flat screen with DVD built in, we love it and I bought it off of Ebay. sportyrick

Plain old flat screen LCD TV off the shelf at Wal-Mart. Easily bought, easily replaced. Actually my TV is really a 12vDC and used a big fat power supply. It's still a cheap power user. My DVD player is also from Wal-Mart. again, easily bought, easily replaced.

Our theory on electronics is that they are obsolete and designed to fail about every 4 to 7 years. Our TV is dying. We bought it in the fall of 2006. It will die soon and we will replace with a new cheapie one. We will pick it out just like we did this one. We look for the best looking picture from among all the TV's on display. And then we find the cheapest one that looks good in the size we want. Our DVD player is 7 yo and still going strong.

I had a cheap LCD flat panel TV/computer monitor from Wally world as well and like the earlier post it had a large transformer in the line converting the power to 12 volt DC. When the transformer died I unplugged the cord from the back of the TV and plugged in a 12V lighter plug cord now it's a 12volt DC TV. No extra cost for anything special. All TV's actually run on DC power they just have a transformer built in to convert AC. If you can find a good price on a DC unit that's you best option otherwise your inverting DC to AC then back to DC and losing power each time.

Well, I ended up getting a LCD/DVD Toshiba 19" for the bedroom from Amazon. Minor imperfections and repackaged. But it only cost me $164! I think that was a great deal for a brand name LCD/DVD combo!

Don't know if you guys would be interested in this. Website seems to be linked to eBay. I was looking at Flat screen TV's. I did a search on ebay and compared to what I was looking at on this page (not same). Because you can come up with so many different combinations based on what you input for a search, I think this website would be a good place to look even if you are searching eBay already. These also seem to be in the final minutes of auction ending in some cases. Site seems to be safe.

I bought a Haier 22in LED LCD TV from Amazon. It has the same thing as Lorna was saying...huge external power supply. It should hook right up to 12V! It's a full 1080p too! I have right about $180 for it.

Hey Ben if that TV does work on 12volt direct let us know exactly which one it is or provide a link. I'm looking for a new one in the near future and it would help to know which ones are a direct plug in.

I'm going to try it out this weekend in the bus. On the back of the TV, it clearly shows DC in. There were several other reviewers that said it was a direct plug in for their RV.

I believe all the flat screen LED TV's operate on 12 vDC. They just have the converter built into either the power cord or the TV itself. Several of the RVer's were talking about this one and and that is how I realized that mine was as well (just look at the power in jack on the back of the TV).
