Cool! You've had the opportunity to do things in several fascinating industries.

I remember seeing something ages ago -- probably never made it beyond concept stage -- where there was a system fitted to blow foam beads into the space at night (or other times) and vacuum or drain them back out when the window needed to be seen through. I always thought it was a neat idea, but then I sometimes wondered how they'd with static electric forces making foam bits cling in the space rather than clear out nicely.

I dont know what the windows in my house are filled with.. but I know they made a big deal when I got them about how the metal strip is isolated from the inside pane to the outside stating thats a big area of heat loss was in the transmission of the separator that separates the 2 panes and transmits to the frame.. these are high performance windows from 2014..

That would be worth building just to watch! Could be kind of lava lamp like.

I didn't realize they made such efficiency gains.

Surace says all windows should perform no lower than R-5, but he believes R-7 should (and will) be the standard. The company, for its part, produces some of the highest-performing products on the market, including fiberglass and vinyl products that range anywhere from R-5.9 to R-11.1.
