Vapor Barrier question

Vapor Barrier,
I understand the concept of a Vapor Barrier, my thought is wouldn’t this trap moisture in between the wall and metal (bad) or ceiling & metal (bad) floor & metal(bad), I’m sure possible by using a rust/mildew paint or primer will be applied on the metal before the Vapor material is applied, am I missing something about the Vapor Barrier? Sorry to all if I sound like a newbie (oh I am)

Re: Vapor Barrier question

I suggest you use the search function on this forum to see the discussions that have transpired regarding this topic. Some people have used a vapor barrier, others not. I chose not to based on the same reasoning you mentioned. I'd rather have the moisture escape rather than be trapped. It seems unlikely that you will be able to guarantee that moisture will not find it's way past your barrier. Most likely scenario is condensation on your windows trickling down the inside of the wall and onto the floor.

Re: Vapor Barrier question

I did exactly the same thing as Dr. LuLu, except I put a layer of red rosin paper between the floor and insulation to act as a medium for absorbing and dissapating any moisture.
