Wall panel question

I have seen a lot of videos about doung a full gut which im in the middle of doing. My question is has anyone removed the metal under the wall panels and insulation? Is it safe?

Everything I have read says the chair rail is part of the supporting structure of the body

You'll wanna leave that bottom bit in, as it's supposedly a structural element. We stuffed insulation behind that panel and covered it with our new wall.

I'm thinking 1/8 to 1/4 wood paneling that I can get at home depot Canada. It's smooth and it's white. Easy glue and staple to my straps. In emergency it will easily be removed if ever need be.. No pics as I'm not quite at that stage but hopefully this month
