weld the 2 front doors to make one?

any one taken off the 2 air powered front doors, welded them together to make one door. then put hinges on and use for the front door? it is the perfect size and all.

I've seen some folks use bolts and hardware to make the doors a one piece. I'd imagine a welder would do it!

You certainly could, but the lack of insulation and leakage would be the reason I'd want to get a new door. Cant you find/cut down a residential or rv door?

i could , i just like the look of it. keeps some of the old skoolie in there with the new. noted on the insulation factor though.

When I can arrange it, I'm planning on a custom single piece door, with lexan and insulation inserts for mine

The plan was to make a 1 piece 1" tube frame and use the windows and seals from the original doors, so it would sorta look stock...don't care about insulation for my ride.

I repurposed the steel and a window from the original door and a proper car door latch to make a completely different, one-piece door. It was a quick and dirty job, though, and it is fundamentally flawed in that it is nearly impossible to seal. Tough as nails, though. I'll be making a new one out of angle iron soon.

I know a lot of people use residential doors, but that doesn't sit well with me. I used residential door latches for other uses inside the bus and one has already failed from road vibrations. Would hate that to happen to the front door!

I welded the original doors together and mounted them on a "parallelogram plug" door hinge from a transit bus. That allowed me to keep the original look and yet solve the problems associated with the worn out original set up. Jack
