What do you think?!
I went and checked out a 2002 skoolie a few days ago that appears to have some rust on the undercarriage. Doesn’t look that bad but was hoping to get some feedback as to whether or not it looks worth purchase and/or repairable.
Other details:
- 115k miles
- Running water
- Air/heat
- 2 bedrooms
- 1 bathroom
It’s going for 10k
Thanks in advance for all of your help!!

The actual frame doesn't look that bad. Have you poked around with a screwdriver? Depending on the running gear, the bus is probably worth around 1/4 to 1/3 of the asking price. I guess it all depends on how much you value the conversion work to be.

That's what I was thinking as well. It's actually a 2001 Thomas International 3000 series 3800 8 cyl / 7.8 L diesel. Allison MT643 transmission. It's got two 55 gallon water pumps, one fresh and one gray. 30 amp plug in shore electricity. Wood flooring. Hydraulic breaks. Any further thoughts?

7.8 V8? I assume you mean the 7.3 T444E? If the mileage is correct, it's probably okay. I'd rather have air brakes on a full sized bus, but I know a fair number have hydraulics (for some reason). The tranny is one of the good ones.

Ah yes! I think you're right in saying that. I must have misheard the seller because I just noticed that on his listing it says Navistat T444E. Woops!
Do you think that's an unreasonable price?

Guess it all depends on how much you value the work that has been done. If you consider the entry price of $3000, is there 7 grand worth of work/materials in it? Have the ceiling/walls/floor been insulated?

Rust looks superficial in pics. Real question is the conversion quality. What kind of heat and air, insulation, etc. The paint job doesn’t look like it was done very carefully. You can argue that it doesn’t matter that much, but people that do careful work tend to have a consistent work ethic.
It would kill be to sell mine for close to as little as $10k, but I have receipts and pics to prove the content, expense and build quality.
