What is it? Stuck in my thermostat.

We pulled the head off the engine due to a coolant leak. The thermostat comes out with the head. This lil metal chunk was stuck in the thermostat as if it might have broken off somewhere down the line in the system. Anyone have any idea as to what it is and where it came from?

It appears to be brass with some other silver metal inside. It could be a ball. I have no clue.

We weren't getting a new unit, just reusing the old one. Don't see it in your pic either. The top of ours still has that piece on it.

Yep, reminds me of the ones in air cooled VWs. They used to get stuck. I remember cleaning that passage out at upgrading the spring. That's my guess too.

It looks like a piece of a previous thermostat.

hi-jacking...

How are you going to control your goats...ugh...pellet producer

A diaper while on the road????

We have had goats for a month and the are one heck of machine, hay in one end and compost out the other, at the same time

i would look at thermostat first and then pull out a coolant heater if it has one and then water pump, that is all there should be in it's path

That could cause an overheat issue since thermostat could open all the way, are you sure it wasn't soldered to the bottom of thermostat??

Part of the reason we got a bus is so that we could customize our living quarters to work with the animals. Rosie will have a 7.5'x5' bedroom with a grated floor that goes down a drain so we can rinse out the whole area. I also have a "berry bag" that attaches to her rear for when we go on public sidewalks. There have been a few prototypes for that so far. She knows what "go potty" means, but since she's a goat she will occasionally do it in the car out of spite. The biggest problem with having her inside isn't the bathroom, it's preventing her from eating the furniture!

haha. Eating the furniture. Well my dogs have always chewed on the furniture legs in my house until I teach them. Some of my furniture is better suited for animal food now.

I've never had the dogs chew up anything besides a flip flop, an umbrella handle, and one or two phone charger cords. My cat has begun to chew on the furniture. Not sure how to train a cat not to do that. Hot sauce, perhaps. Wonder if that would work on the goat, too.

We had a dog that used to eat everything in sight outdoors. The neighbor's Christmas decorations, Nerf footballs, anything and everything. Thought we might deter him by mixing up some ghost pepper sauce to put on stuff and wanted to see how he'd react before we put it on everything. He licked all of it right out of the bowl and never batted an eye.
