what the hell is this part???????????

So I was under bus measuring the gas tank and saw this above the filler neck just hanging out
It has 2 wires going into it they ride in the angle iron above hose and kinda looks like it would go around something as a sensor

Sure looks like the "Self Destruct Lever" for a 1997 Crown bus.....
The 2 wires provide the electricity to ignite the fuel in the tank should you feel the need or get so feed up it comes down to it......
Whatever you do "DO NOT PULL" it while you're close by, Set the timer and haul ass........ the lever will fall in appx 15-20 minutes after set the timer depending on how many beers you have before you get the feeling to pull such a thing. Whatever you do be sure to park away from any homes, houses, barns or buildings as the flames from the explosion will burn anything within a 50 ft radius of the bus. Remember to stop and detour all traffic........ The SRK "(Skoolie Repair Kit'") does not cover any damages from the use of the SDL (Self Destruct Lever)...... You're on your own......



P.S. I got no frigging ideal what it's for.....

Bansil, I have a 97 Crown / Cartpenter I can look and see if I have one of those whatyamacallits. where abouts was it located my fuel tank is located on the right side just behind the old school bus door is yours at the same place? Update sorry I don't have anything that looks like that around the fuel tank. there was a round entry light that had two wire going to it near the old door.

Grey eagle is probably right but I think I saw that same picture in the National Geographic (or was it Mad Magazine) back in 1956 just after the Andrea Dora sank--I'm not sure though.

That does look like a "salvage" picture

Kimberlink,my fuel tank is behing rear wheels in center of frame rails protected by a huge steel "rollcage" you'd think it was an explosive fuel

Bansil, update I crawl all around underneith my bus looking for something that looked like the part in your picture. I didn't find anything that even came close.... However my bus is on an international chassis with a DT-466. its wasn't made by MI-6 when Q was in-charge so 007 did not drive mine. It could be the old ejection seat lever....

Being a Lucas Electric guy at heart, I'd by now just have cut the wires, spliced them together with masking tape, started her up and followed the smoke--at least I'd have a clue which way to look next. And, once you burn the wires up you really don't need the question answered anyway--so go for it--we'll all be waiting to see the pics!
