Window insulation

I’m thinking about painting the windows black and filling with insulation from the inside and putting the wall panels over it. My walls will have an extra 2 inches of insulation added. I haven’t seen anyone do this in other build threads: would there be a reason why I shouldn’t do this? Why would removing windows and capping the outside with metal be better?

metal sheeting would be a permanent fix - glass breaks, windows leak

Windows have a tendency to sprout leaks. If they are hidden behind your walls that might concern you. If you don't want light or to see through them, paint is not a bad option. But if you don't need the windows it's probably safer to skin the window openings and seal them that way.

Yeah, the windows have way to many places they could potentially leak - around the frames, through the gaskets, and around the individual panes themselves. (Those plastic latches don't really seal them up tight.)

Plus, if you're going a full 2 inches of insulation, that's a lot of wall space down the length of the bus that could get plated and insulated over.
