Cool. Also not an expert here, on anything. Just some limited experience that causes me to have opinions. I like that you look into alternative methods of insulation. There has to be something better out there.

I still have cold/hot spots on the ceiling where the ribs are, and I made mistakes during my insulation installation.

John; I'm color blind, so any fiberous insulation looks the same to me except rigid versus flexible. I was in construction for some time, trying to make ends meet. My experience was in tunnel construction on hydroelectric projects, so I don't know beans about insulation. That's what's so cool about this site. All this varied experience on hand. You always have permission to send me to time out for a fatty.

Worth noting that any fibrous material will hold moisture. Even if the fibers themselves are waterproof. That is the cause of moldy fiberglass.
