1964 Blue Bird
As some of you know I purchased a 1964 bluebird in New Mexico last February, and had quite an adventure in bringing her home to Texas. Sadly the gofundme account I set up to try and get help in getting her home and repaired has had no luck so at this point and time I am needing to sell her. She is listed on ebay at the link below. Will be posting more pictures later.
1964 Bluebird School Bus Conversion Project Unique Look | eBay
I would like to get at least $1000 for her, to help me pay the payment on my son's land, I am struggling to keep it paid since my son was incarcerated and his girlfriend left, I am living in a tent on the land it is the only place I have to stay right now, so this is an important sell for me.
If you have questions feel free to call

I sure wish you could have gotten it to the land.
It would have been better than the tent.
As a fellow human that lives with vary little, I wish you luck.

Thanks Nat
I am learning that I prefer living such a life style, even with the stress of making the land payment each month. I wish I could have as well but sadly it just was not meant to be I guess.

She is parked in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. and yes if I do not get her sold and moved they will have her junked within the next month. I feel like crying having to sell her but gotta do what is best, she isn't doing me any good there and I hate the thought of her being junked.

Man that tow bill would be a killer. But man what a sweet bus.
Did you ever get an estimate on the repairs?

No because none of the mechanics in the area would even look at her for me.

Sounds about right I began my search in 2014, just something kept happening to keep me from buying until I finaly rushed to buy after getting in tent, which now has me having to wait till taxes to try again

Sorry been offline all day, it would move if you cranked it in gear, but if you tried to use clutch and shift it would just spin I was told sounded like the throwout baring or something simple, as far as if its drivable that would be up to you several folks on skoolie told me that it might be able to be power shifted and make it some place, tires are showing signs of dry rot, she is a 35 foot gas powered puller with manual

Almost 40 years ago I had a job driving a small rack truck, and the clutch linkage stopped working which turned out to be due to a cracked bell housing. I drove it a week without being able to disengage the clutch. It can be done, but it's not pretty.
Anyway, here is how you would have to drive it that way:
- Start the engine in neutral, and let it warm up.
- Turn off the engine.
- Put it into the lowest gear possible. With trucks, first is often an "under-drive" only used for a heavy load. Use this gear.
- When it is clear to go, with your foot off the gas turn the starter and creep forward a few feet in gear until the engine fires
- When the engine fires, release the key and hit the gas to drive away
- To shift, "float" the throttle to release pressure on the gear teeth and shift to neutral. "Float" is the point between acceleration and engine braking.
- When in neutral, match the engine speed to the next gear. This means letting the engine coast down to upshift, or revving up the engine to downshift. When the speed is right, move the shifter to engage the teeth in the new gear.
- If you have to stop, shift to neutral as you are braking for the stop. Turn off the key as you stop. It will help to "snick" it into the lowest gear when the revs match a few feet before the stop before you turn off the key. If the teeth don't line up at a stop, you may have to roll a foot or so or click the starter once or twice to line up the teeth to get it back in gear.
If you don't already have practice matching the revs, it may not be possible to learn on a broken bus. Learning the pause on upshifts is somewhat natural, learning to match the revs for a downshift not so much. And recent vehicles with the safety switch that block out the starter unless the clutch is down won't do this unless the useless pedal can disengage the safety, or the wires can be bypassed.
I hope things work out for you.

Thanks Redbear, for me it wasn't a choice to do that I was already nervous about driving her to begin with I just did not think I could handle driving her like that, plus she does have air brakes......

Boy, this would be a good snag for someone. Sounds like a minimalistic fix.
