Well, after lurking here for a while, picking up a bus, and getting all excited to share its transformation, I now need to turn it over to somebody else. The scope and timeframe of my project has changed (which means I'm broke) and I can't keep it in storage. It's an '81 Gillig, Cat 3208 with 60,000 showing (I think the engine was replaced, if I'm deciphering the maintenance logs correctly), Allison 4-spd auto. The back third of the seats are out. The only maintenance issue I'm aware of is the front right kingpin being loose. I drove it several hundred miles and it was fine, but I'm sure it'll need fixing some day. She's a sweet bus and deserves a loving home. I'm sad. Somebody's gonna be happy. Just posted it on eBay.
I might just like the Gilligs better than the Crowns....I haven't decided yet. My new favorite are those 60 foot New Flyer articulating buses they have all over in Chicago. They even have two plants here in Minnesota. A guy can dream I guess....
Hmmmm. That's one of the four Gilligs that were sold by the local school district here
in Clearlake -- the ones I announced on this forum. Gweedough paid 500 for it by
sealed bid and just sold it for 2800 on eBay (if the sale goes thru).
There were four identical buses. All running, but two had some issues.
They sold for 700, 500, twenty, and no bidder on the last one.
I told you guys about them in the classified section, so I really should
get a commission on these transactions!
Too bad I've already got one started
