1987 International 35í Bus
1987 International S1800 35í school bus retired from Buchanan County Schools in VA. 252,xxx miles. 9.0 liter naturally aspirated diesel V8, Spicer 5 speed manual with 6.14 rearend gears, air brakes. 5,000 miles on new clutch kit and batteries. 3,000 miles on oil and filter change (Shell Rotella), transmission fluid change, differential fluid change, both fuel filters and air filter. Also changed one of the valve cover gasket sets (gaskets for the other side are included in sale, just never got around to changing them as they werenít a problem). This is a great running bus, Iíve taken it as far as Tybee Island and done lots of camping within a 6 hour drive of Tri-Cities area TN. Fires right up, even in sub-freezing temperatures and without ether. I installed an aftermarket USB and 12v cigarette-lighter-type plug for charging mobile devices and powering a small inverter or whatever else. All seats have been removed, the interior has been scrubbed, and the rearmost floor heater and heater pump have been removed and the lines to- and from- the heater have been shortened and looped. The front heaters and defrost remain functional and do a fine job of heating the whole bus when itís cold.
Itís 30 years old so it drips a little oil, never bad enough that Iíve had to put any oil in it over the 5,000 miles Iíve owned it.
The tires donít have much tread life left.
Some of the indicator lights in the gauge cluster donít work.
The turn signal stalk was broken off before I bought it. Turn signals still work fine, thereís just a nub where the stalk should be.
One of the windows was broken when I bought it and there is now a slightly-too-small piece of plexiglass in its place.
