I'd really like to buy this bus, but not yet in a position to get it. I've spoken to the seller a couple times and he seems like a real nice guy. He told me it sat for a year, but he put a new battery in it and it started up and drove fine. Said tires were good.

As long as there is no rust that is a very good price for a bus.

I wonder what kind of brakes it has.

I am partial to air brakes and can honestly say I have never driven or worked on a full size Blue Bird with hydraulic brakes. As a consequence I have no opinion about them other than I am partial to air brakes. IHC, GM, and Ford chassis buses with hydraulics but no Type 'D' Blue Birds.

My only other concern is to wonder why the church is getting rid of it.

Many times the preventative maintenance for church vehicles is quite a bit below the OEM standards. It is very likely it has not ever had a DOT inspection since it was owned by the church.

The most likely reason for getting rid of it is a lack of drivers. If that is the case there may not be anything wrong with the bus.

hydraulic brakes I'm 99% sure. Yeah, he said the church doesn't need/can't afford it. So it has just sat for a year.
