1990 bluebird school bus with an International 3700 chassis, 269,500 miles. 7.3 IDI V8 diesel and 23.5' long.
My wife and I searched near and far before choosing this rust free southern example for our build. After purchasing the bus in 2020 we had it inspected and mechanically refurbished by Tyner Truck and Auto Repair of Athens, Ga with full engine and transmission service, new shocks, new radiator and coolant and 6 brand new tires before driving it back to NH. Ran and drove perfectly for the over 1000 mile trip done over 2 days.
We hoped to complete a conversion but life got in the way and now it is time to part with it.
So far the seats, subfloor, and steel ceiling and wall panels have been removed. The floor was treated for surface rust, holes were patched and the floor has been painted.
The emergency roof hatch and warning light holes have been patched with steel panels, automotive seam sealer, and stainless steel rivets. A silicone roof coating was removed to prep for paint.
Both commercial 12V AMG batteries replaced in 2021. I have not had it on the road for 2 years but it starts and idles great and moves around the driveway.
I am not expecting there to be any major mechanical issues with this tank of a vehicle.
Does have a small leak off of a hydraulic line on the transmission.
